InKing Royalty Blog Hop - They Say It's Your Birthday

Welcome to InKing Royalty's February Blog Hop! Today's Blog Hop is filled to the brim with projects that celebrate birthdays. The opening line from The Beatles' "Birthday" song ran through our heads as we joyfully created the birthday-themed creations we share with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you'll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

When I first saw the new Occasions Catalog, one product suite really jumped out at me as an absolute must-have : Myths & Magic. I knew that I just had to have it all! This suite has all the things my family loves: mermaids and unicorns for my daughter, dragons for my husband, and for me? Well, I love all of it (think of all the Harry Potter themed projects!)!

Today's card is inspired by the mermaid card on page 36 of the Occasions Catalog. I knew I wanted to CASE this card when I first saw it, and I'm so happy I did...I absolutely love today's card!

I was looking for a different fold to use, and I came upon this great fun fold card by Jackie Bolhuis, and I couldn't wait to try it. I followed her video, and was amazed with how easily you can put this together!
To color the mermaids, I used the new Stampin' Blends. They are so easy to work with and really take away a lot of the intimidation factor of alcohol markers. There's a light and dark shade of 12 colors, plus bronze and ivory. And don't worry if you edge over the line a bit, there's a color lifter available as well.

Aren't they sweet? I added a touch of Wink of Stella to their scales for a little extra sparkle (because you can never have enough sparkle, right?).

Inside I added the birthday sentiment from Magical Mermaid, and the tiny seahorse from Magical Day was colored with Flirty Flamingo ink and a blender pen.

Paper: Pool Party CS (3"x5 1/2") embossed, added to the front of Whisper White (3"x11" scored at 5 1/2"). Adhered to a (3 1/2" x 5 1/2") piece of Myths & Magic Specialty DSP. I added that to the top of (4 1/4"x 5 1/2") stamped panel of Pool Party CS. The small flap is made of Pool Party CS (1"x 5 1/2") and another strip of DSP measuring (3/4"x 4 1/4")

Ink: Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo. Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Ivory and Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blends.
Framelits, Folders and Punches: Magical Mates, Little Loves, Layering Circles and Support Ribbon Framelits; Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and Triple Banner Punch
Stamps: Magical Day and Magical Mermaid
Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, Wink of Stella, blender pens
